China plans to construct over 4.5 million 5G base stations in 2025 while introducing additional policy and financial incentives to support industries expected to shape the next decade, the country's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) announced during its annual work conference.

Citing that the country has built a staggering 4.19 million 5G base stations, the industry regulator said that "promoting 5G revolution and 6G innovation will be one of the priorities" next year.
The move comes as the country charted its vision for industrial growth during a two-day work conference of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Prior to this, the pair had reached a 5G strategic cooperation agreement on Jan. 26 to launch joint construction and sharing of a 700 MHz 5G network, with each party investing half for the new construction, expansion and renovation. More innovative policies will also be made to biomanufacturing, quantum technology, embodied intelligence and atomic-level manufacturing, it said.
