LiFePO4: Why Float?
2) The lack of outbound Amps from FM80 during the drop from absorb voltage to float voltage indicates that the Inverter and Battery Management System (BMS) in the
Floating inverter amplifiers (FIAs) have recently garnered considerable attention owing to their high energy efficiency and inherent resilience to input common-mode voltages and process-voltage-temperature variations. Since the voltage gain of a simple FIA is low, it is typically cascaded or cascoded to achieve a higher voltage gain.
In,,,,, the floating inverter dynamic amplifier (FIDA) is used by utilizing dynamic bias and current reuse schemes to improve the gain and reduce the noise. It has a wide input common-mode range without needing any CMFB circuit against many other published DAMPs. Nonetheless, its gain is sensitive to the PVT variations.
The Dynamic Floating Inverter Amplifier (FIA) architecture has introduced significant advancements in comparator design, particularly enhancing speed and reducing power consumption. However, several limitations constrain its broader application in high-precision systems [,, ]. A major drawback is insufficient gain.
A high-efficiency dynamic comparator with a floating inverter pre-amplifier is provided by the FIA architecture . By providing a degeneration capacitor, V GS of the input pair keeps decreasing, and eventually the input pair is cut off.
By using an inverter-based input pair powered by a floating reservoir capacitor, the pre-amp realizes both current reuse and dynamic bias, thereby significantly boosting gm/ID and reducing noise. Moreover, it greatly reduces the influence of the input common-mode (CM) voltage on the comparator performance, including noise, offset, and delay.

The closed-loop configuration and high open-loop gain owing to the three-stage configuration ensures the gain accuracy and robustness to process, supply voltage, and temperature (PVT) variation.
