The costs associated with distributed photovoltaic (PV) systems primarily include investment costs, operational and maintenance (O&M) costs, and financial costs . Understanding these costs is crucial for evaluating the feasibility and profitability of distributed PV projects.
Distributed Photovoltaic (PV) Power Generation Distributed photovoltaic (PV) power generation refers to the installation of solar PV systems directly at or near the user's location, such as on the rooftops or walls of residential, commercial, or industrial buildings.
Also, PV power generation is an effective solution for addressing the power accessibility issue of remote rural areas. By 2020, PV power generation will provide 1000 kWh of clean power annually to each 970,000 families in remote rural areas in Tibet, Xinjiang, Gansu, and Sichuan without imposing an extra burden on regional grids.
In 2020, the PV capacity in remote rural areas will be 97 GWh, assuming that electricity use in remote rural areas will meet the level of remote urban areas (1,000 kWh per household annually) . The provincial PV capacity and electricity generation by application modes in 2020 are calculated using Eq. (2), as illustrated in Fig. 3.
The environmental value of energy conservation and emission reduction of PV power generation can be equated to the value of standard coal consumption and the environmental value of pollutant emissions that are avoided by using PV power generation compared to traditional thermal power generation with the same amount of electricity.
The PV electricity costs vary significantly among provinces. In the economically developed eastern provinces, the PV electricity (mainly BIPV) is 0.67–0.86 RMB/kWh. This rate is close to grid parity owing to high grid prices, but the CO 2 mitigation cost is high (456–693 RMB/Mg CO 2).
