Expected to be operational by 2029, the project will store excess energy during off-peak hours and release it when demand surges, helping to stabilize the power grid.
Strategically located in the Philippines, the comprehensive development is designed to harness substantial renewable energy resources, boasting a total planned capacity of 3.5 gigawatts (GW) of photovoltaic (PV) power and 4.5 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of energy storage.
This project marks a significant milestone as Terra is poised to become the largest integrated photovoltaic and energy storage power station in Southeast Asia.
Meanwhile, the Pakil Pumped Storage Hydroelectric Power Project, located in Laguna, is poised to become one of the largest of its kind in Asia, with a daily storage capacity of 14,000MWh and a generating output of 1,400MW. It is scheduled to come online in 2030, playing a crucial role in the country's long-term energy strategy.
The Phase I project, which was recently contracted, encompasses 1.4 GW of PV capacity and 3.3 GWh of energy storage capacity. Construction activities are scheduled to commence in November 2024, with the facility expected to enter commercial operation by 2026.
