Passivity-Based Control for the Stability of Grid-Forming
Existing grid-connected inverters encounter stability issues when facing nonlinear changes in the grid, and current solutions struggle to manage complex grid environments
In order to reduce the impact of distributed grid integration on the grid and improve the stability of the grid, a combined sliding mode-prediction control strategy for grid-configuring inverters is proposed.
In the grid-connected inverter, the associated well-known variations can be classified in the unknown changing loads, distribution network uncertainties, and variations on the demanded reactive and active powers of the connected grid.
The future of intelligent, robust, and adaptive control methods for PV grid-connected inverters is marked by increased autonomy, enhanced grid support, advanced fault tolerance, energy storage integration, and a focus on sustainability and user empowerment.
The inverter control methodology is based in two cascade loops: a fast internal current loop and a slow external voltage loop. The current loop controls the grid current and it effects the current protection and the power quality levels.
